Volunteering at Auchernack is one of the most rewarding things I've done. You can see exactly what your time achieves — whether that's a solar panel going up or someone borrowing a tool from the library for the first time.

How You Can Help

Whether you have an afternoon to spare or want a regular commitment, there is a place for you at Sustainable Planet SCIO. We run practical sustainability projects and welcome people of all skill levels — from hands-on build work to admin, design, and community outreach.

What Volunteering With Us Looks Like

Our volunteers work alongside staff and trustees on real, visible projects — maintaining Auchernack House and its grounds, running the community tool library, supporting events across Forres, and helping with fundraising and communications. Every session is purposeful, friendly, and makes a measurable local difference.

    Current Volunteer Needs

We are actively looking for help with tool library coordination, grounds and garden maintenance, painting and decorating at Auchernack House, social media content, grant writing, and event stewarding. No prior experience is needed for most roles — just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.
